Assigned: February 20, 2015 Due: March 16, 2015
If you turn any part of your assignment in late you will lose 20% of your grade.
Students must research on of the US Presidents (pick out of a hat in class). Prepare a list of facts about that person. Decorate a 2-liter bottle to represent the president chosen for a biography and a display sign to identify the person. You will dress up (costume) for your speech. Speeches are presented March 16-20. Date of speech will be decided on March 13th.
Research: Worth 20 points
1. Students are to write 25 facts about their person. These facts should be in the student's own words. They are NOT to cut and paste from
Internet sites. That is plagiarism.
2. Each fact should be a complete sentence with correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
3. The facts should include why their person is famous as well as interesting facts about their life. (8 Early life/9 Term/8 After Term)
4. These facts should be neatly written in cursive on notebook paper or typed. Must be three or more paragraphs. Typed should be Arial or Times
Roman Fonts. Size of font should be 12.
5. Neatness is important!
6. It should be the student's own work.
Bottle: Worth 40 points
1. The bottle should have the face of the president (styrofoam ball works great)
2. It should be dressed as the person (cloth, doll clothes, or paper)
3. It should also have some sort of prop that represents why their person is famous. For example: Thomas Jefferson might be holding a peper to
represent the Declaration of Independence.
4. The bottle works best if filled with water (sand, pasta, beans, etc work okay too).
5. Craft glue or a hot glue gun works best. School glue does not hold.
6. The student should be the one to construct the bottle. Parents may help hold, cut, glue, etc., but it should be the student's own work.
Display sign: Worth 20 points. The display sign should be like a "table tent". The sign should have the following:
1. the bio-bottle person's name spelling and capitalization correct
2. the student's name
3. a sentence that explains why the person is so famous-spelling and capitalization correct
4. an illustration of an important event in the bio-bottle person's life
